Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Wiiware)
PREVIEW
Publisher: Capcom
To be released: January 2010
I have never really played or been a fan of the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series, not to say I don’t like them, I just never really got into them. However I might actually consider this version that’s going to be released via Wiiware.
Capcom is going to re-release the first three Phoenix Wright games in the series for 1000 points. These three games are going to be a direct port from the Nintendo DS versions of the games with no new additions to them, except for wiimote enabled controls. From what I understand from the DS versions, you have to speak or yell (whichever floats your boat) “OBJECTION!” into the mic of the device. Instead of that, you gesture the phrase, just like how the main character (Phoenix Wright) would in the game itself, while his voice and other types of audio would be coming through the wiimote speaker. Personally I thought it added to the enjoyment of the game because you’re just waiting in anticipation to yell out and gesture “OBJECTION!”
Those that are accustomed to the DS version might have a slight adjustment period (good or bad), because there are no touch screen motion needed. It’s essentially the same game that you know and love.
Now since it’s a direct port from the DS format to the Wii, don’t expect the game to look pretty. The resolution is low, pixilated and there is a lot of unused area, which is covered by huge borders due to the difference in screen aspect ratios. The first game, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will be released in January 2010, Justice for All will be released in March, Trials and Tribulations will be released in May. For all three games, it translates to 1000 points via wiiware or $31. All else considering, not that bad of a deal.
