The Caveman is back! Hudson’s taking Bonk off ice and defrosting him for action.
In all honesty, I’ve never played the original Bonk. my first encounter with the lil guy was Hudson Entertainment’s mobile version of the game. Granted the mobile version was certainly a more stripped down and simplified version of the platformer but who cares? I had fun with it, but I digress.
This version brings Bonk into a whole new light, but still keeping true to it’s roots as well. It’s still a platformer like the original, however instead of the typical and old skool 2D side scroller feel, Hudson’s waved it’s magic wand and gave it 3 dimensionallook and feel.
The game looks fun and cute as all hell. Gameplay seems rather simple. It has the signature headbutt and aerial headbutt moves that we all know and love. Something new in the fray is co-op play. Not only can you experience Bonk through the usual single player mode, now you can share the fun with your friends as well. The colors look vibrant and lively. Definitely very eye catching. I was told that the demo wasn’t a finished version of the game. This is good news. Since the game is slated for spring 2010, it gives the studio time to really fine tune everything and put that spit polish shine to the game as well.
I’m looking forward to this release. It’s going to be a simple downloadable game that everyone can play and very accessible to fresh and novice gamers.
